Where can I take surf lessons in Matapalo?
You’ll love Cacao Surf! Lessons for all levels, from beginner to advanced, we offer the best instruction on the Osa Peninsula.
All surf spots are located anywhere from 5-20min drive around the Matapalo area, or 30-40min drive from Puerto Jimenez.
How much does it cost to rent a surfboard?
Board rentals are $25, we offer discounts for board rentals for multiple days.

Do you offer lessons for beginners?
Absolutely! Beginners are very welcome. There are many beaches in the area with the best beginner waves. Our friendly instructors will help you catch your waves safely and you will have so much fun doing so.
Can advanced surfers take lessons too?
Yes! Experienced surfers can refine techniques and tackle bigger waves with our instructors. They will take you to the best advanced waves on the peninsula.
How long is a typical surf lesson?
Lessons usually last about 2 hours.
Enough time to learn, practice, and have fun on your waves.
Do I need to bring my own board?
No worries! Boards are included in the price of your lesson. We have the perfect board for your skill level. If you are not wanting to take a lesson boards are available for rent at $25. We offer discounts for multiple lessons or board rentals. Reserve yours here.
Can I book a lesson for a group?
Yes! Groups are welcomed and encouraged. Whether you bring friends, family, or retreat groups, you can book a group lesson here.
Do kids take lessons?
Definitely! Kids and teens have fun learning safely with our instructors.
What should I wear for my lesson?
The water is super warm— no wetsuit needed!
We provide rash guards, but don't forget your sunscreen!
